Prodseal vs Lovable Security Scan vs Supabase Security Advisor
You built your app with Lovable on Supabase, and you want to know it is safe to share. Three tools can help you: the security scans inside Lovable, the Security Advisor inside Supabase, and Prodseal. The first two are built in, and they are good. You should run both of them.
Three tools, one goal
Lovable’s scans are free (Lovable docs), and Supabase’s Security Advisor is built into the Supabase dashboard (Supabase docs). This page shows where Prodseal fits next to them. Every claim about Lovable and Supabase links to their own pages, and where their docs do not cover something, we write “not stated in its docs”.
Lovable’s security scans
Lovable has two scans in each project’s Security view. The Quick scan runs automatically when you publish. It checks database access rules, file storage rules, leaked-password protection, npm packages with known vulnerabilities, and MCP servers that are open without a sign-in (Lovable docs).
The Deep scan runs when you start it. It adds a review of your app’s logic and permissions for data the wrong people can see, endpoints anyone can trigger, unsafe input, leaked secrets, and payment and sign-in flaws, and it usually takes 3 to 13 minutes (Lovable docs). Both scans are free. Fixes go through the project chat, with 10 free fixes per account that each come back 24 hours after use, and credits after that (Lovable docs).
Supabase Security Advisor
The Security Advisor sits under Database in the Supabase dashboard (Supabase docs) and runs queries on your database to find configuration problems (Supabase blog). Its checks include RLS turned off on a public table, RLS turned on with no policy, a policy that lets everyone through, sensitive columns that are exposed, a public storage bucket that allows listing, and security definer functions that anonymous users can run (Supabase docs).
You can run it in the dashboard, with the CLI command supabase db advisors (CLI reference), or through MCP (MCP docs). Each finding comes with a rationale and remediation steps (Supabase blog). Supabase also says many rules come with one-click fixes and that project owners get weekly emails about open security issues (Supabase blog). Our guide to checking RLS on every table shows how to work through its RLS findings.
Prodseal
Prodseal (prodseal.dev) is for apps built with Lovable, Bolt, Replit, v0 and similar tools on Supabase. It starts with a free check of your public URL, which needs no access at all. The free check looks at what any browser receives when it opens your app, such as keys in the JavaScript and the headers your app sends. You get a list of what it finds.
After you connect GitHub or Supabase, you get a free full report that checks database access rules (RLS), logins and admin checks, Stripe webhook signatures, API routes and edge functions, keys in your git history, storage buckets, and AI calls with no limit.
Side by side
| Topic | Prodseal | Lovable security scans | Supabase Security Advisor |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost | Free check and free full report. Fixes are $49 one time, per app. The Done-for-you security fix is $199 one time, per app, offered after your $49 fix when it lists Manual steps (prodseal.dev). | Scans are free. 10 free fixes per account, then credits (Lovable docs). | Built into the Supabase dashboard (Supabase docs). Price not stated in its docs. |
| What it looks at | Your public URL first, then your code (GitHub) or your database (Supabase) | Database setup, dependencies and MCP servers. The Deep scan adds your app’s logic and permissions (Lovable docs) | Database configuration and usage patterns (Supabase) |
| Where it runs | Prodseal’s own service, from your public URL and the connection you choose | The Security view in your Lovable project. The Quick scan runs on every publish (Lovable docs) | The dashboard (Supabase docs), the CLI (CLI reference) and MCP (MCP docs) |
| Database rules (RLS) | Yes, in the full report | Yes, the Quick scan checks database access rules (Lovable docs) | Yes, through several RLS checks (Supabase docs) |
| Keys in frontend | Yes, in the free check, with no access needed | The Deep scan checks your code for leaked secrets (Lovable docs) | Not stated in its docs |
| Stripe | Checks Stripe webhook signatures | The Deep scan covers payment flaws (Lovable docs). Stripe webhook signatures: not stated in its docs | Not stated in its docs |
| Git history | Checks for keys in git history | Not stated in its docs | Not stated in its docs |
| Fixes delivered | $49: tested fixes for the Critical and High issues it can fix automatically, re-checked on a sandbox copy, sent as a GitHub pull request or a SQL-plus-Lovable-prompt kit, with manual steps for the rest. $199 Done-for-you security fix, offered after your $49 fix when it lists Manual steps: Prodseal fixes the Manual steps items from your free report, with a full refund if it can’t. | Try to fix sends a request to the project chat (Lovable docs). Auto-fix can handle a few Critical Quick scan findings during builds (Lovable docs) | Remediation steps for each finding (Supabase blog) and one-click fixes for many rules (Supabase blog) |
| Who applies fixes | You do. Prodseal never applies changes on its own. With the $49 fix, you merge the pull request or apply the kit. With the $199 Done-for-you security fix, Prodseal prepares the fixes as a pull request you approve and merge, using the GitHub access you already granted, and walks you through any dashboard or key steps, such as rotating a key in your own dashboard. It never asks for your secret keys, and nothing changes without your approval. | Lovable’s AI changes your project from the chat, and you review and test the changes (Lovable docs) | You, from the remediation steps or a one-click fix (Supabase blog) |
When to use each
Use Lovable’s scans on every Lovable project. The Quick scan already runs when you publish, and the Deep scan is worth running before you share your app, because it reads your code and costs nothing.
Use Supabase’s Security Advisor on every Supabase project, whichever tool you built it with, because it runs its checks on your database directly. Clear its open findings before you share your app.
Use Prodseal when you want to see what the public sees without giving any access, when your app takes Stripe payments or calls an AI service, when an old key may still sit in your git history, or when you want tested fixes sent as a pull request or a kit instead of applying each change by hand. The three tools overlap on database rules, and that is fine.
FAQ
Do I still need Lovable’s scans and Supabase’s Security Advisor once I use Prodseal? Yes. Keep running both. They are built in, they are good, and they see your project from inside the platform. Prodseal adds a check from the outside and covers a few areas their docs do not mention, such as keys in git history and AI calls with no limit.
What access does Prodseal need? The free check needs none, because it only looks at your public URL. The free full report needs GitHub, where Prodseal reads code and opens pull requests but never merges them, or Supabase, where the access is read-only. Code copies are deleted within 24 hours.
What is the difference between the $49 fixes and the $199 Done-for-you security fix? The $49 one-time fixes, per app, come first and cover the Critical and High issues Prodseal can fix automatically. Prodseal tests them on a sandbox copy and sends a pull request or a kit, and you decide what to apply. Anything it cannot fix automatically, such as rotating a leaked key, comes with manual steps.
The $199 one-time Done-for-you security fix, per app, is a separate offer that appears on your fix page and full report after your $49 fix is built, and only when it lists Manual steps. Prodseal fixes the Manual steps items from your free report, with a full refund if it can’t. It prepares the fixes as a pull request you approve and merge, using the GitHub access you already granted, and walks you through any dashboard or key steps, such as rotating a key in your own dashboard. Prodseal never asks for your secret keys, and nothing changes without your approval.
